Fabric Blossem Workshop- So much fun!

This past Wednesday we had a fantastic time making fabric blossem necklaces.  Made using fabric yo yo's and jewelry techniques.  It is always a pleasure getting to know those who love the handmade.  Our next fabric accessory workshop is April 1st - a three week workshop that will bring you lots of fabric and jewelry skills.  Hope to see you there.  Thanks for the nice night ladies.

hello golden hands

Here is another fine 1970's project that can be transformed into a hairclip, pin, necklace.  This simple circle crochet is rather easy, like starting the round for a hat.  Creating a mixture of beautiful colors and textures.  I recommend not using acrylic, but finding a nice soft cotton or linen.  I think this will be a project for my list of new things to try.  To see what else you could do with crochet visit wrenhandmade for a world of loveliness.

Yeah for Books!

I had such a great time with these lovely ladies last night.  It was our mini book workshop where each student learned and used different sewing techniques.  I love seeing all the evidence of making, scraps and tools galore.  Libby Armstrong's three books are shown above, such a great use of varying papers.  Thank you all for making it such a great workshop!

Golden Hands- "Egging on in crochet"

I love Golden Hands, how to books from the 1970's.  I have been collecting them for a short bit.  And credit many of my new ideas to these lovely discoveries.  I do not see myself making a crochet egg cozy any time soon, but I love how indulgent and sweet such a thing is.  It makes me think of the graffiti artists' Knitta who make cozzies for objects all over the world.  I hope you enjoy them as much as me.  I will keep posting my Golden Hands finds each week.  Something to look forward to.

Your very own tote bag workshop

Creating and carrying your own craft tote will bring you smiles.  We will create an appliqued tote bag that will be perfect for your crafts or a day at the farmer's market.  Beginning sewing skills are required (preferably you have seen a sewing machine before).  Each participant will use a sewing machine as well as hand sewing.  This will be a two week workshop, one night we will work on the applique while the other night we will assemble the tote.  Materials will be provided, if participant wants to use a special fabric they are welcome to bring it.  Please see Textures website for time and prices.

The above image is from Kayte Terry's book Applique Your Way.  Dianne Gilleland provided the craft as well as many others on her website craftypod.

Embellished shoes workshop - special flats for your special day

Would you like to jazz up a pair of old flats or perhaps have an excuse to buy a new plain pair.  This workshop will teach you how to embellish shoes that have more personality.  Basic hand sewing  and embellishing will be presented in this one night workshop.  Each participant will need to bring their own flats, this is based on making sure you have the right size shoe(s).  All other materials will be provided.  Let's make your new favorite pair of shoes together.  The picture above is from the great new book Applique Your Way by Kayte Terry.  Please check Textures website for price and dates.

Books, Books, Books workshop

In this exciting workshop we will create five different mini books.  We will gain inspiration from the book, How To Make Books by Esther Smith.  In this one night book blast we will do several stab bindings, japanese bindings and pamphlet stitch.  This is for the beginner artist who wants to gain more understanding of book construction.  I will provide fun papers for each participant.  All materials will be included in the cost of the workshop.  Please see Textures Handmade Market website for times and prices.
